Task 3 - My findings

Analyse audience feedback to find my feedback of my questionnaire

In the results of the questionnaire I produced, I have found out that many people have like my perfume advert. This is because I have many bright colours and this is what stands out, my contrast makes my perfume noticeable and people who have answered my questionnaire have said it is very nice and is not over the top with too many pictures it has certain amount of pictures which makes up what my perfume is about. The font of my advert is easy to understand and it is clear who it is aimed at. My pictures are appropriate and clear to understand. People who have answered my questionnaire also have said I could have had a bit more text on my advert to make it have more information and to add the price so It is more understandable to the customers

Printing Technology

Report into printed materials for ‘Top Notes’ award ceremony
I have been asked to research three printed products for this event: posters, invitations for award winners’ work. 30 posters would be sufficient for the university site.

Requirements:

Posters- should be designed by an art student and reflect the creative nature of the award winners’ work. 30 posters would be sufficient for the university site.

Invitations- should have a high quality feel to them as this is the most prestigious award the department gives each year. There will be 40 award winners and 25 VIP guests

The programme is only a running order and can be mass printed on A5 paper. 300 should be enough to cover the largest number of guests expected.

Print technology and cost

I have investigated five different print technologies, of which four might be suitable. I can recommend the following as the best for each task.

Intaglio- In the form of intaglio printing called etching, the plate is covered in a resin ground or an acid-resistant wax material. Using an etching needle, or a similar tool, the image is engraved into the ground, revealing the plate underneath. The plate is then dipped into acid. The acid bites into the surface of the plate where it was exposed. Biting is a printmaking term to describe the acid's etching, or incising, of the image. After the plate is sufficiently bitten, the plate is removed from the acid bath, and the ground is removed to prepare for the next step in printing
Letterpress- Letterpress printing is relief printing of text and image using a press with a "type-high bed" printing press and movable type, in which a reversed, raised surface is inked and then pressed into a sheet of paper to obtain a positive right-reading image. Chinese first invented movable type. It was the normal form of printing text from its invention by Johannes Gutenberg in the mid-15th century until the 19th century and remained in wide use for books and other uses until the second half of the 20th century. In addition to the direct impression of inked movable type onto paper or another receptive surface, letterpress is also the direct impression of inked printmaking blocks such as photo-etched zinc "cuts" (plates), linoleum blocks, wood engravings, etc., using such a press.[citation needed]
In the 21st century, commercial letterpress has been revived by the use of 'water-wash' photopolymer plates that are adhered to a near-type-high base to produce a relief printing surface typically from digitally-rendered art and typography.

Linocut or woodcut and letter press printer- Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for the relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a press.
Although linoleum as a floor covering dates to the 1860s, the linocut printing technique was used first by the artists of Die Brücke in Germany between 1905–13 where it had been similarly used for wallpaper printing. They initially described their prints as woodcuts however, which sounded more respectable.
As the material being carved has no particular direction to its grain and does not tend to split, it is easier to obtain certain artistic effects with lino than with most woods, although the resultant prints can lack the often angular grainy character of woodcuts and engravings. Lino is much easier to cut than wood, especially when heated, but the pressure of the printing process degrades the plate faster and it is difficult to create larger works due to the material's fragility.
Offset Printing- Offset printing is a commonly used printing technique in which the inked image is transferred (or "offset") from a plate to a rubber blanket, then to the printing surface. When used in combination with the lithographic process, which is based on the repulsion of oil and water, the offset technique employs a flat (planographic) image carrier on which the image to be printed obtains ink from ink rollers, while the non-printing area attracts a water-based film (called "fountain solution"), keeping the non-printing areas ink-free.
Development of the offset press came in two versions: in 1875 by Robert Barclay of England for printing on tin and in 1903 by Ira Washington Ruble of the United States for printing on paper

Task 1

Write a short blog post to say how you think your advert fits all the CAP codes used by the ASA?

My advert follows Cap and Asa because my perfume advert is not racist towards anyone of different race because has not got any words which are inappropriate. I have not used any bad language in my advert because it is not nice and is against the law to have swearing or anything racist on the advertisement. If there is foul language or racial comments this is also just generally not nice and if children where to read this they could start t say or use the inappropriate words and could become seriously out of hand when more people see the advert. My advert has not got any unsuitable images because that is against the Cap and Asa codes. My advert follows all the criteria and is acceptable for my perfume.

Task 4

How does your finished product compare to your design?

my final design of my perfume advert is not a lot like my advert because i have changed a lot of it. in  my block design my perfume was placed in front of a load of tall building like it was in new york, which was chose because it made a nice atmosphere and was nice with the bottle and the surroundings. now my perfume advert has a bright green field and it has my sister as a model and the bright sunshine in the blue sky with the perfume bottle and writing in the middle of it. i chose this because it describes what my perfume is like its the sun shining makes the perfume stand out and is sexy. So my advert is not the same as my block design but still resembles my block design.

Task 8

Describe the technical skills you have gained?

i have gained a lot of different skills over the course of this year and i have learnt how to use blogger and upload things and use many different websites and i have also learnt to make my blog different so i can customize and change the design of my blog.
i have learnt how to make my own adverts and i can now use photoshop which has now given me more skills so i can now do more adverts and i am now able to change colours of peoples features and change the design of writing and font and colours of them and this will help me a lot more to be able to do more of my work easier

task 7

Describe two things you have over come?

Threw out my course work I have struggled with a few things on different occasions but I have overcome many things I couldn’t do.
One of the things that I overcome the course work deadline just in time, but I was under a lot of pressure and I didn’t not do it in the set amount of time, which I should have. I also could have maybe worked more on my media in my own time but that is where I have now learnt I will need to do so.
And asked for more help which would have made me finish easier and on time. I found it rather difficult to take my own pictures because I didn’t want to use myself so I had to ask my older sister If I could use her and she said it was fine so I got my perfume advert done.

task 6

                                      Task 6

I feel that my target audience profile is for the right gender, because my advert cover has a picture of a girl making the perfume sexy because she has her back out and it is also made to look like it makes you all happy because the background is a bright green field with the sun beaming across it. I feel it is suitable for my audience profile as well because it is for the gender because it is a girly advert.  I think that my advert is aimed specifically aimed at girls aged between 16-20’s because it is a sexy perfume it is supposed to be one that boys are attracted to and girls who go to parties will be wearing it out.  My perfume advert has a lot of colour and it is nicely described but I could have a bit more writing, as my writing is not very little of it. The colour of my product will catch peoples eyes and the younger generation of girls will look at it a may or may not buy it

task 5

How has technology helped you turn your design into a real product?

Technology has helped me to produce my product because it has taught me to change the font and colour of the fonts. I have used many tools to make my advert to the way I wanted it.  I now know how to crop photos and I can now change the colours of eyes and hair in pictures. I can also know use blogger and I have now got my own web site. I have learned how to also use slide share. So from doing this bit of course work I have gained many skills I did not have before. The tools I used to edit my photos for my perfume advert I had to use the cropping tool, the eraser and I am now more confident about doing it again.
